Lastly, don't be scared to use the wiki to make the gathering/blueprint finding part of the game easier. Compared to any other game with this long of a playtime, this has a pretty light but organic grind. The few times I've gone on gathering runs I'd take a vehicle with storage mods and have enough resources to last a long time after just a few minutes of gathering. I just grab any nodes or resources I see while I'm exploring and keep it in lockers I very rarely ever have to farm anything specific.
I'd definitely encourage habitat construction early on, as it makes it way easier to store materials and gives you access to major quality of life improvements. The game does a good job of giving you control over your own workload as well via the habitat system. A network of scanner rooms are great too.

Habitat building + Cyclops really give you full control over how you want to play. You'll quickly improve your oxygen capacity tenfold and get easy access to improved supplies that'll enable you to go hours without resupplying, or indefinitely if you prefer. This not only rewards and empowers you as a gamer but is a solid reflection of the survival experience, wherein the initial part is by far the toughest. As you learn new blueprints, improve your equipment, build you base, and get used to your surroundings, your quality of life improves dramatically.
At the start it's more difficult because of your limited oxygen and mobility combined with the fact you don't know the surroundings yet or the best places to find things. Yes, it scales very well and does a good job of mimicking how it would be irl while not making it feel like a grind as you advance.
